What
is Person Centred Counselling?
Person
centred counselling is based on listening to the client.
It is a gentle therapy which believes that everyone
has the possibility to heal themselves. The counsellor
ensures the 3 core conditions are in place to progress
the counselling
• Empathy (walking alongside the client, entering
their world
• Unconditional positive regard (being non judgemental)
• Congruence (being honest and true)
What
can it treat?
Depression,
loss, relationship difficulties, addiction issues, loneliness,
feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, stress, work issues,
difficulty sleeping, feelings of being out of control
– or anything else which makes a person feel not
OK.
What
to expect at a counselling session
The
client can expect to be listened to and be able to voice
issues in a completely confidential place. The counsellor
will not tell the client what to do but allows the client
time and space to help reveal anxieties, and to discuss
concerns & worries. The client can express their
private thoughts without being judged.
